Mills High School Wind Ensemble is the premiere instrumental performing ensemble at Lewis S. Mills High School and is directed by Mr. John A. Deeb. A level 1 course at Lewis S. Mills, this organization rehearses daily and engages in a variety of performances locally and throughout the United States and abroad. Membership in the Wind Ensemble is by audition only and participation is limited by instrumentation. Open to all students in grades 9-12 who have had previous experience on a band instrument the wind ensemble boasts a membership with representation on all four grade levels. Auditions are held in February and March for the following school year, and each year approximately 20 new members join the ensemble. A member of the Wind Ensemble should expect to learn and perform music on a grade IV-VI level and be responsible for basic music theory principals. All members are expected to attend all rehearsals and practice a minimum of 45-60 minutes per day outside of school. Recordings of current year repertoire are available to all Wind Ensemble members for practice purposes by clicking the “Music & Recordings” link at the top of this page and entering the password previously provided to them.
