Mr. Deeb is a past president of the Connecticut Music Educators Association and has been involved in the organization since he joined his MENC collegiate chapter at Western Connecticut State University in 1976. In that time, he has been Jazz Ensemble Chair, Festival Chair and Region Director for CMEA’s Northern Region and was a member of the CMEA Executive Board for eight years. As Vice President (immediate past president) of CMEA, Mr. Deeb was the chairperson of the annual in-service conference for 2000 and 2001. In 2001 Mr. Deeb was named “Alumni High School Band Director of the Year” by the music department at Western Connecticut State University and in 2002 was given the Centurion Award recognizing outstanding achievement of alumni by the University. John Deeb is a member of the National Association for Music Education, the International Association of Jazz Educators, the National Art Education Association, the National Band Association, the Connecticut Education Association, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the Connecticut Association of Arts Administrators, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Phi Beta Mu. Mr. Deeb served the International Association of Jazz Educators as the Connecticut Unit treasurer from 1982-1990, and he served as president of the Connecticut Chapter of Phi Beta Mu from 1995-1997. In addition, Mr. Deeb has served as a clinician and adjudicator throughout Connecticut and New Jersey. John Deeb currently resides in Burlington, Connecticut with his wife Michele and sons Jack and Christopher. |
