Ever since I can remember I have been around teaching and art. Growing up my mom was Head Teacher at the preschool program at Eastfarms Elementary School in Farmington. My older sisters both went to college for art, my eldest attended Paier College in New Haven County Connecticut and the other, Pratt Institute in Brooklyn New York. My childhood was wonderfully filled with art utensils, projects and photographic equipment. I started my teaching career during my Junior year in high school working for the Farmington Parks and Recreation Department, back then I was fondly known as the “Arts and Crafts Lady!” Between then and now earned my BS ED from CCSU, raised a family, owned 2 businesses, taught aerobics, took classes in environmental studies, and worked 7 years as a Teaching Assistant. In the year 2000 I was hired for the part-time Art Teaching position here at Region 10, my duties included teaching 6th grade art and 2 high school art classes. Keeping up with both school’s policies and trying to fairly split my time between the two schools was a challenge! However, I developed exceptional classroom management skills, creative lessons and I had the good fortune to work with the most gifted Art Teachers ever! These teachers were seasoned professionals who were happy to share ideas, lessons, and strategies with me. In 2005 I was hired by Region 10 for the full-time 7th and 8th grade Art Teaching position, I am truly grateful to have the best job in the world!
